CTS Engtec becomes a member of Saint Petersburg's SME business delegation

A Finnish group of advisers to the Government of Saint Petersburg and the City of Saint Petersburg agreed on further cooperation

The 15th anniversary meeting of the Finnish group of advisers to the Government of Saint Petersburg was held in Saint Petersburg at the end of September. At the same time, the group introduced itself to the new Governor of Saint Petersburg Georgij Poltavchenko. Finland's Prime Minister Jyrki Katainen also attended the anniversary meeting.

The foundation of the independent business delegation of small and medium-sized enterprises was announced at the anniversary meeting. CTS Engtec from Kouvola was elected as a delegate. The business delegation plans to meet three to four times a year.

The business delegation comprises Finnish and Russian SMEs. The delegation works closely with the Finnish group of advisers to the Government of Saint Petersburg.

Cooperation with the new Saint Petersburg city administration to continue

The Finnish group of advisers to the Governor of Saint Petersburg (Gruppa Finskij Sovjetnikov, GFS) was established in 1996 to promote Finnish investments in Saint Petersburg during the transition years of the Russian economic reform. While serving as the Saint Petersburg Vice-Governor, Vladimir Putin was the architect behind the group's business idea.

The continued cooperation between the new Saint Petersburg city administration and the Finnish group of advisers to the Government of Saint Petersburg was confirmed in the 15th anniversary meeting. The protocol between the city and the group was signed by the group coordinators, Aleksandr Prohorenko, Chairman of the Committee for External Relations of Saint Petersburg, and Anders Blom, Managing Director of Eurofacts Oy. Ever since the group was set up, Eurofacts Oy has coordinated the group's activities.

Baltic Sea Action Summit 2.0 in Saint Petersburg in 2012

Saint Petersburg city administration and the group of advisers are together preparing for the second Baltic Sea Summit. The plan is to hold the summit in Saint Petersburg in 2012. The idea of the summit came from Ilkka Herlin, Chairman of the group of advisers, Chairman of the Board, Cargotec Corporation, and Chairman of the Board, Baltic Sea Action Group. The first Baltic Sea Action Summit was held in Helsinki in February 2010 on Ilkka Herlin's initiative, in collaboration with the President of the Republic of Finland and Finland's Prime Minister. Both the Governor Poltavchenko and Prime Minister Katainen expressed their commitment to the upcoming summit.
