SmartLog CB development project, joint effort by Kinno driven consortium and IBM, received EU funding
Earlier this year Kouvola Innovation (Kinno), regional development agency in Kouvola, entered to an agreement with IBM to develop blockchain technology. Program is called SmartLog CB:lle. Kinno applied EU funding for the program and finally today good news arrived to Kouvola. Funding facilitates IoT-Blockchain program and work commence in the beginning of September this year.
Development program is yet another example of Kouvola’s importance in logistics. City is not just a one of the Rail Road Terminals of the Trans European Network (TEN-T) but also vigorous center of logistics development. City of Kouvola, KINNO and Lappeenranta Univerisity of Technology are all developing new ideas in Kouvola how to improve logistics. And not only in Kouvola and for Kouvola but in much wider scale, as IoT-Blockchain program testifies.
Kouvola has also an excellent data center site to expand the logistics from cargo to data as well. Kouvola’s location in a gateway between East and West creates an unique opportunity to place e-commerce HQ to Kouvola for both goods and data.
Blockchain technology is a revolutionary approach to data exchange, data storage and data processing. New technology enables optimization of cargo related data exchange in unprecedented way.
