Binding environmental regulations impose strict requirements on mining companies seeking versatile environmental consulting and environmental technology services.
CTS’ office in Oulu has so far been very active in mining and metal industries’ and thoroughly considered the industries’ needs. Following the needs, the Environmental manager position was announced, and the application process resulted succesfully in the recruitment of Helena Moilanen. Trinity of forestry, mining and environmental issues
Helena transfers to CTS from Northland Mines, a mining company. Earlier she used to work in various environmental management assignments, in particular, in Metsähallitus, Finnish land and water areas managing enterprise, and Lapin Ely-keskus, a Lapland environmental permitting centre.

- From Metsähallitus I returned to Lapin Ely-keskus, and five years ago switched to the mining industry, i.e. started my employment at Northland Mines. There my responsibilities were concentrated on projects’ start-up stage, particularly, on tasks related to permitting process, e.g. EIA procedure and exploration permits issues.
Helena was engaged in both Hannukainen and Swedish Pajala projects.
According to her education Helena is a biologist, Master of Science (M.Sc), from Oulu University. Helena’s thesis topic was about the impacts of the air pollution.
Helena believes that in the future mining companies must consider all project stages already at the start-up stage, as well as pay ever more attention to the social and environmental issues. Related to these needs offered by CTS solid versatile expertise is of utmost value, since the company’s staff possesses the complex technical skills and knowledge required in mining sector.
